Della Arthur, Executive Director
Della Arthur was born in Victoria B.C. where her mother and maternal grandparents raised her. Her grandfather was an international design engineer who designed and built steam plants for 2nd world countries to help grow and sustain a better way of life for many people. Because of this, Della lived most of her growing years in various countries in the Caribbean and developed a deep compassion and commitment to improving the quality and dignity of life.
At the tender age of 9, her mother took ill. For the next 18 years, grandmother, mother and daughter (3 generations of women) fought her illness throughout many different countries, dealing with little access to adequate health care services. They moved back to Canada during the last years of her mother’s life where she passed away at a local Toronto nursing home.
Throughout her career, Della has achieved many important milestones in business management. She started her own freelance company at the age of 21, employing and contracting hundreds of people for short and long term projects. She eventually switched gears and joined a large IT company where she fostered and grew into a strong leader admired for her dedication, commitment to excellence, and people skills.
Della’s leadership and management skills, coupled with her own personal health care experiences, have given her a deep desire to help others achieve a better quality of life, and have properly positioned her to lead a caring, dedicated Retire-At-Home team in the Toronto area.

Mrs. Martin founded Retire-At-Home with the philosophy that quality care must address both the emotional and the physical health of an individual. It has been shown that the healing process is accelerated when they are emotionally healthy.
